IEC Automation Week 2023 – A Report

The 21st Anniversary Celebration of IEC drew more than 250 attendees from all across the country.
IEC – The Instrumentation Experts Club completed an illustrious 21 years in India and celebrated the occasion with a two-day International Event from 27th and 28th October 2023. This International Symposium and Exhibition was held at ILeaf Banquets, Thane, Mumbai region in India had the most appropriate theme of ‘Opening New Doors to Digital Revolution’.
This Grand Event drew more than 250 attendees from all across the country as well as International Speakers to provide insights into the latest solutions in Industrial Process Automation and Control domains. The Day1 was inaugurated by the Schneider Electric President Dr John Eva followed by a reflective keynote on ‘Open Automation’ delivered by Mr Domenico Napoli – Technology Leader, Schneider Electric Ltd. The end of the session was a grandeur where in our Chief Guest Padmashree Prof. G D Yadav delivered an inspiring talk on the ‘Latest Developments in Automation Technology’ and the Guest of Honour Mr Vinayak Marathe, Head – India Business Operations of Phillip Townsend Associates, Inc., (Ex Sr VP – RIL), shared his profound views on the ‘Role of Instrumentation Engineer in Transforming Operations’ which not only motivated the audience but also took them towards a journey on the many benefits of modernising industrial environment through futuristic technologies.
The highlight of the event was an active participation by more than 25 exhibitors who had showcased their innovative solutions and some of them also presented their technical papers which ‘Opened New Doors to Digital Revolution’. The high points of the celebration spread over two days were, when subject matter experts from Engineering Companies, End User representatives, Instrumentation Technologists and Automation Solution Provider shared innovative perspectives, case studies and insights on the International Standards and Best Practices in the field of Automation Technology, Industrial Cybersecurity, Information Technology, AI in Plant Operations, etc., for the process industry. During this Grand IEC Event, Stall Visits, interactive Q&A Sessions, networking discussions and technical quiz contests and Lucky Dip engrossed the participants.
The Cultural Evenings at the end of each day was a hallmark. Dignitaries, Delegates and IEC Members with their families renewed their festive spirits and danced to the tunes of Garba till late evening. This is a unique association which has been nurturing family values among the professional experts in India who have contributed in a very unique way towards the instrumentation and automation industry and are now creatively engaged with their families.
Towards the End of Day2 an award function was held in conjunction with the symposium, which enabled the visiting family members of the awarded professionals to understand the uniqueness of contributions being made by professional engineers in their own ways by spearheading the importance of instrumentation and controls in the current times.
IEC expressed its appreciation to scores of automation professionals across India and felicitated key persons in the Indian automation fraternity who have made great contributions towards the growth of the Industry, Academia and IEC at large. A Special Award was presented to Dr M Arokiaswamy, Editor & Publisher, Industrial Automation, and Founder, Automation Expo series of Exhibitions, for his decades of dedicated service to the Automation Industry.
