Due to high level pollution which is a major cause of ill health, now awareness has increased to breathe as much as clean and purified air for better health, in public places.

Earlier in absence of Odour (smell) meter, it was difficult to identify concentration of foul air as well to identify correct location from where such unhealthy smells flowing.

This happens at various public places like factories, lavatories, Hotels, garbage disposal plants, effluent treatment plants, etc.

M/s Shinyei Co Ltd, Japan has come out with a unique instrument known as Handheld Odour Meter. It detects relative change of odour collectively and show numeric value according to the concentration of compound gas.

It digitally displays the odour strength level according to the relative change in the odour measured. It is suitable for check the effect of deodorisation before and after deodorisation checking the transition of odour strength and finding location of odour.

Once one knows the location of bad smell which is intolerable and unhealthy, then immediate corrective action can be taken to breath healthy.

There are three models of Odour Meter designed for different type of gases.

1) OMX-SRM: It has good sensitivity of gases formed in lavatories, factories, effluent treatment plant, hotels, airports, railways, detecting smell of cigarettes and other places in daily life.

2. OMX-ADM: This Odour Meter has good sensitivity to ammonia, hydrogen sulfide methyl; very useful for measuring pet odour, detecting odour in hospitals, nursing homes, measuring garbage odour level in garbage disposals plants, restaurants and fish market.

3. OMX-TDM: This meter is used to detecting TVOC (Toluene) in environments, petrochemicals factories, organic solvent products and smell of painting.
