The Show Preview presents glimpses of the automation products, devices, software and technologies that would be on display at the Automation Expo 2018 (August 29-September 01, 2018 – BCEC, Goregaon, Mumbai).
1Brushless EC-i 30 DC Motors from drive specialist maxon motor, available in several different versions of the high-torque, are now also available in small diameters. They are perfect for hand-held devices and applications in robotics. With the EC-i 30, maxon motor is introducing a new brushless DC motor (BLDC). Like its predecessors, the EC-i 40 and EC-i 52, this motor stands out for its high dynamics, low cogging torque, and high torque. It is available in two lengths, each in a Standard and a High Torque version, with a maximum nominal torque of up to 110 mNm at 75 W.
Many possible combinations: Despite their impressive performance, EC-i 30 DC motors are a cost-effective alternative to existing drives. Because of this and their compact design, they are especially suitable for hand-held devices and applications in robotics. In all versions, the new EC-i 30 motors can be expanded with encoders, gear heads, servo controllers, or positioning controllers from maxon motor – easily and conveniently in the maxon online shop.
BLDC motors as frameless kits: maxon motor, the Swiss drive specialist, is releasing its top performing brushless flat motors as frameless kits. With a greater demand for motors used in robotic applications to be lighter in weight while simultaneously providing high torque in order for arms and grippers to move dynamically, the frameless kits offer a number of benefits.
DC motors are not always easily integrated into a structure. In robot joints, space and weight are primary concerns that take standard solutions to their limits. As an alternative for the growing robotics market, maxon motor now offers its brushless flat motors as frameless kits. Rotor and stator are delivered separately, without bearings and motor shaft, and are connected only when the components are assembled. This offers our customers the best of both worlds: high torque density and minimum volume.
With outer diameters of only 43 to 90 mm, the brushless EC flat series motors are extremely compact. Designed as external rotor motors, they offer plenty of space inside for cable glands, and maxon will send the Hall sensors for easy control.
Space for cable glands: Engineers can integrate maxon’s frameless motors in robotic joints to save space and offering the following benefits:
- High level of integration in the structure of the machine
- High torque through multi-pole external rotor
- Low cogging torque
- Plenty of space for cable glands
- High overload capacity, and
- Equipped with Hall sensors and thermal sensors (NTC).
The use of frameless motors for a given application is often determined on a case-by-case basis. maxon’s applications engineers help users select the right solution for a given application.
