Proportional throttle valve for higher flow and pressure ranges

Machine manufacturers can now take advantage of hydraulic systems with improved control behavior thanks to Bosch Rexroth’s 2-way proportional throttle valves. These cartridge valves are designed for a maximum operating pressure of 6,000 psi (420 bar.) The newly developed onboard electronics enable compensation of decentralized disturbances for improved control quality.

The new 2WFCE cartridge valves are used as throttle valves for increased flow rates or in combination with an external pressure compensator for flow control. For example, in press applications they control rapid traverse and press velocity. In plastics processing machines, they control screw speed and injection velocity.

In hydraulics, the trend towards higher pressure ranges has become more important. This enables machine and system manufacturers to use smaller system components to further support the traditional strengths of hydraulics, force density and low space requirements. These requirements were taken into account by Rexroth in the development of the new 2WFCE throttle valves with a maximum operating pressure increase from 315 to 420 bar.

The newly developed digital electronics optimize controller parameters to improve dynamics. The units combine high response sensitivity and improved frequency response with reduced hysteresis. This enables improved control quality and shorter cycle times. Bosch Rexroth calibrates all valves for consistent operation and ease of commissioning.

In case of power failure or cable break, the main stage is automatically switched to a failsafe position.
