Product Summary
MF-8800GW-XC 100G DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) equipment supports long distance, high capacity communications, and highly reliable networks. Model MF-8800GW-XC has abundant client interfaces such as Ethernet*1, Sonet, SDH etc., and it enables the construction of a range of network topologies. Model MF-8800GW-XC is equally suitable for your backbone, core and metro networks.
Model MF-8800GW-XC provides a maximum capacity of 8.8 Tbps per fiber by multiplexing up to 88 100G wavelengths. It operates in both L-band and C-band, so can double the available capacity (to about 18 Tbps) by combining both bands. Furthermore, since L-band offers stable transmission in DSF*2, Model MF-8800GW-XC can provide good quality, stable transmission regardless of the type of fiber cable.
The network configuration can be changed flexibly to linear, ring, or mesh. Therefore we enable the construction of flexible networks which are robust in the face of problems and disasters. A mesh can be expanded with one-way units (Max. 8 directions), considerably reducing capital investment. Alternative reroute paths are calculated automatically in several directions, and this enables rapid recovery and repair. Moreover, Model MF-8800GW-XC is able to adjust to changes in the loss of a transmission path automatically, and provides stable signal quality regardless of changes in the transmission line loss due to fiber repairs or the effects of adverse weather. We contribute to the reduction of operational costs (OPEX) by continuously endeavoring to reduce power consumption and equipment size, and by providing operators with an easy-to-use Network Management System (NMS).
In future, Model MF-8800GW-XC will be able to configure 400G, 1T-DWDM and virtual (SDN) networks, packet switching etc. via upgrades that will not interrupt transmission. By taking a positive approach to introducing new technology, we contribute to the extension of our customers’ service line-up.
Features
1) Long distance, high capacity transmission
Model MF-8800GW-XC offers high-quality long distance high capacity transmission by the use of world-best FEC. In the case of long distance transmission, 3R (Reshaping, Retiming & Regeneration) is needed as the optical signal is degraded by the fiber. By minimizing the need for 3R regeneration, CAPEX is reduced. Model MF-8800GW-XC always offers world-best FEC and the highest quality long distance transmission, and our customers’ confidence in our extensive know-how has seen this technology adopted for undersea cable system operations in 15 countries around the world. Mitsubishi also has considerable experience of digital techniques for compensating fiber distortions coupled with the digital processing of optical signals, including Digital Coherent. Mitsubishi thus offers highly reliable, low latency optical transmission systems.
2) Redundancy
In the event of a network failure, by switching to a protection path within 50 ms, Model MF-8800GW-XC offers optical path protection which can minimize the impact on service. Furthermore, in order to continue to provide service in the face of a wide-ranging communications system failure caused by a major disaster, MF-8800GW-XC also supports wavelength restoration by changing to a new optical path that is operating normally. This function makes it possible to set up a protection path rapidly by CDC*3 switching that enables whichever optical path to be set up on any route and at any wavelength, combined with optical path control by ASON/GMPLS*4. These rich redundancy solutions contribute to the construction of highly reliable networks.
3) The merits of L-band wavelengths
A major feature of MF-8800GW-XC is its lineup of L-band (1570 – 1610 nm) wavelengths in addition to the C-band (1530 – 1560 nm) wavelengths generally used for DWDM. L-band can provide good transmission performance in not only SMF*5 but DSF, and can enable 17.6 Tbps transmission capacity by combining C-band and L-band*6. Moreover, when you are currently using C-band equipment, by adding MF-8800GW-XC for L-band operation by coupler insertion*7, your transmission capacity can be about doubled without increasing the number of transmission path fibers.
4) Monitoring function via numerous LEDs
The numerous display LEDs on the front of the equipment help the NMS operators to direct the maintenance staff standing in front of the equipment. This makes it possible to reduce the number of operational errors during maintenance work.
5) Low power consumption, small size
Low power consumption and small size are achieved by adopting the highest performance LSI. Model MF-8800GW-XC can provide a transmission capacity of up to 6 Tbps in a single rack.
6) NMS supervisory and control technology
The NMS has several functions. A pair of servers can be configured to provide remote redundancy, can switch to each other automatically in the event of a server failure, and will provide highly reliable surveillance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Moreover, NMS supports rapid, appropriate repair work in an emergency via its universal HMI and precise inter-layer alarm escalation function.
