Intelligent Workshop Wagon

The Intelligent Workshop Wagon Plant@Hand from the Fraunhofer IGD guides workers through complex assembly tasks. In doing this, sensors detect which components, tools or materials the worker has taken. The integrated artificial intelligence calculates from that what the worker is working on, where he needs assistance as well as what step is next. The system can be adapted individually. A touch screen, tablet or AR glasses serve as a display.
The glasses show the operator a visualization of the work steps in the real environment. Plant@Hand is the key term under which the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD) is developing various solutions for information assistance in production and maintenance. These support companies in further optimising their processes. In our work we apply the most recent technologies on visualisation of information as well as on digital documentation and interactive cooperation.
The Visual Assistance Technologies department works on the visualisation of existential data. As production data prevents production losses and accelerates maintenance, it is vitally important in, for example, mechanical and plant engineering. They have to be available to the members of staff at the right place, at the right time and also in a comprehensive way as a basis for informed decisions.
Fraunhofer IGD supports companies in the needs-based and context-related provision of and appropriate interaction with information at all stages of the production and maintenance process.
