CAD/CAM solution with numerous new features

The 2018 version of the Mastercam CAD/CAM software has numerous innovations.

Within the new Mastercam version 2018, Intercam highlights the newly developed strategies for Coroturn Prime tools. This technology reportedly enables maximum cutting rates with a double service life for the inserts.

The CAD/CAM software Mastercam 2018 offers a convenient user interface and many new features. According to Intercam, these include multi-offsets, making different offsets possible inside a workpiece. Moreover, it is now possible to define associative points for clearance, retract and feed planes as well as for the top and the bottom side of the workpiece. The feed of the inside and outside arcs can be individually customized to achieve an optimal load on the tool. As the developers stress, new options in finishing are opened up for users with support for the geometry of circle segment tools. Programming both single- and multi-surface-machining is said to be quick and easy. Together with Sandvik Coromant, the completely new CAM realisation of the Coromant Prime technology has been developed. As is explained, compared to conventional turning, Prime Turning offers machining in all directions. The concept consists of an innovative turning technique, application-specific Coro Turn Prime tools and exclusive machining strategies developed in Mastercam. This technology is claimed to enable maximum chipping rates with twice the life of the insert tools.
