POWERGRID accredited REP of Project Management Institute (PMI)

Becomes India’s first PSU to be awarded the status of REP – PMI REPs are organisations that we have approved to offer training in project management.

Mumbai, January 20, 2020: POWERGRID, India’s largest Electric Power Transmission Utility and a Maharatna Company, becomes the first Indian PSU to be accredited as Registered Education Provider (REP) of Project Management Institute (PMI)®, the world's leading association for those who consider project, program or portfolio management their profession. With this accreditation, POWERGRID aspires to enrich the Indian Corporate and Government agencies at Central and State level with relevant project management skills to aid efficient execution of its projects.
PMI REPs are organisations that we have approved to offer training in project management and issue professional development units (PDUs) to meet the continuing education requirements needed by PMI credential holders. To earn the REP designation, a provider must meet or exceed rigorous standards for quality and effectiveness as defined by PMI.
The association will support POWERGRID in creation of a project management culture in an institutionalised manner to achieve better results, thereby help propel the nation's growth vision. The overall objective will also be to gauge progress of projects, do gap analysis and also bring out the successful practices and core issues in implementing large infrastructure initiatives of the company.
Commenting on being accredited as PMI REP, Mr Anil Saberwal, Executive Director (HRD), POWERGRID said, “This accreditation will redefine our approach to capacity building in project management and will provide world class learning to the professionals’ external to POWERGRID through globally acknowledged curriculum.”
