Magenta Power opens R&D Centre in Navi Mumbai
Magenta Power has announced that it has opened its first R&D Centre, the national centre for Magenta’s facilities in Navi Mumbai

Magenta Power, a leading EV charging solutions provider, has opened its first R&D Centre in India. The new facility will help increase production rates and allow for much faster time-to-market, for the AC and DC charger for 2, 3 and 4-wheelers. Magenta Power, with its brand ChargeGrid, is in the business of ‘empowering clean energy solutions and ideas’ through its group companies and intermediaries.
The R&D centre, ensures adherence to all international quality and safety standards. It is in line with Magenta’s Make in India vision and will address futuristic technologies in the field of electric vehicles, charging equipment and smart data analytics. The new facility will house 3 automation labs to design and develop cell quality, battery pack design, rapid prototyping and conduct reliability and environmental tests with its latest and sophisticated test instrumentation and advanced design tools.
“We need a Made in India, Made for India approach to EV, else as a country we all will be stuck in the same way we are with solar imports. At ChargeGrid we are going out all to develop EV solutions which are practical and cost efficient for India,” says Maxson Lewis, Managing Director, Magenta Power. “The investment in this new R&D centre demonstrates Magenta’s commitment to technological leadership and setting the standard when it comes to sustainable mobility. The Centre is uniquely placed in the heart of Mumbai, to ensure we can work with the industry to accelerate the development of new EVs and the next wave of charging infrastructure needed to power India’s future,” he added.
Established in the market since 2017, the brand has undertaken several first-timer activities in India; India’s first EV Portable Charging Station for Offices and Homes, ChargeGrid App for the network of charging stations for EV charging, first solar-based EV charging station in Maharashtra, etc.
The firm is currently present at 53 locations across pan India. And aims to mark its foothold in every state and set up 500 EV charging stations by the end of 2020.
