Dassault Systemes announces winners of the 13th edition of AAKRUTI

Dassault Systèmes conducted AAKRUTI 2023, a nationwide product design competition for students.

November 2023 – Dassault Systèmes has announced the winners of AAKRUTI 2023, a nationwide product design contest for engineering, design and technology students in India. AAKRUTI 2023 aimed to provide an opportunity to students all over India to come up with innovative solutions for real life problems and challenges – both technological and social. The challenge involved three stages – preparing product design, design concept submission, and final product submission. The participants created their project submissions virtually through online collaboration enabled by Dassault Systèmes’cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
A total of 8,870 contestants from 23 states all over India pariticipated in AAKRUTI 2023. The competition engaged with 245 colleges and 1,774 teams, out of which 167 teams were all-girls teams. Through this competition students got the opportunity to explore the some of the latest technologies by Dassault Systèmes including 3DEXPERIENCE Works, SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Winners of AAKRUTI 2023:
·Team Sigma from Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tamil Nadu won AAKRUTI 2023 for designing and fabricating a device for home windows that uses wind energy to generate electricity and will serve as a home décor piece.
·Team Design Dynamos from Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research, Madhya Pradesh finished as first runners-up for developing a spinal rehab-chair that enables patients to do multiple exercises while seated in the same device.
·Team Alive from Chennai Institute Of Technology, Tamil Nadu won the Special Encouragement Award for an adaptive-inventory management robot that revolutionises warehouse operations using artificial intelligence and real time data analytics.
·Team Kadalikam from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Maharashtra also won the Special Encouragement Award for designing and developing a banana fiber extraction machine which could be used by farmers with reduced waste and increase in fibre yield while minimising environmental impact.
·Team COSMOPOLITANS from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu won the special All Girls Team Award for developing a portable Braille printer with a voice recognition system that can convert both text and voice into Braille text and print it too, empowering the educators that are working with visually challenged people.
·Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu was awarded the Best Participating College with the maximum qualified entries of 520 teams and 2,080 student participants.

It’s an opportunity for them to collaborate with like-minded peers and explore their passion for mobility, energy and other fields of engineering. I am heartened to have witnessed the innovation, the quality of work as well as the students’ presentations and pitches in today’s event,” said Deepak NG, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systèmes. “The participants got the unique opportunity to learn through first-hand experience of advanced design and engineering technologies. We believe that such learnings and experiences will help in building relevant skills for the workforce of the future.”
AAKRUTI 2023 had five distinct themes focused on sustainability:
·Sustainable Products for Human Wellness: Develop products that cater to genuine clinical requirements, offering affordability, energy efficiency, user-friendliness, adaptability, and the ability to achieve more with fewer resources. The product design should be groundbreaking and deliver significant benefits to patients, medical professionals, and users alike.
·Green Energy generation, transmission and storage: Develop products with the objective of ensuring access to economical, dependable, environmentally friendly, and contemporary energy for everyone. Students have the opportunity to conceive a product for clean energy generation or utilisation, with the goal of minimising the consumption of natural resources. The design should prioritise affordability and user-friendliness.
·Sustainable Habitat/City Infrastructure: Develop products focused on lowering the expenses associated with home construction. Students can envision a product that contributes to urban expansion while reducing the utilisation of natural resources.
·Sustainable Mobility: Develop products intended to establish transportation systems that prioritise environmental sustainability, social fairness, and economic viability, all while endorsing the efficient and sustainable utilisation of transportation resources. Students have the opportunity to design solutions for public transportation, electric/hybrid vehicles, car-sharing/ride-sharing services, and intelligent transportation systems.
