River EV rolls out the first Indie from its Hoskote plant

Deliveries for pre-order customers in Bengaluru will commence in September followed by a national rollout over the next few months.

Bengaluru, August 2023: Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, River, has rolled out its maiden product, Indie, from its newly launched facility in Hoskote, Karnataka. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility spans over 120,000 sq.ft and has a capacity to produce 100,000 units annually. The facility is loaded with automated assembly lines, both for battery pack and vehicle assembly.
Speaking on this milestone, Aravind Mani, Co-Founder and CEO at River said, Its a special moment for us- the very first Indie rolling out of our production line. As promised during Indies launch in February this year, deliveries for our pre-order customers in Bengaluru will commence in September followed by a national rollout over the next few months. Were grateful for the early support we received from all our pre-order customers and are excited to start the deliveries.
Further to revised regulations in the FAME II Subsidy, the price of the Indie has been revised and will be announced soon. However, staying true to its word, River will stick to the initially promised ex-showroom price of INR 1,25,000/- for its pre-order customers in Bengaluru.
River is also working on its first experience centre in Bengaluru which is slated to launch in November this year. Meanwhile, pre-order customers can visit their River account and book a slot to test ride the Indie.
River is the only homegrown EV company to base both production and headquarters in Karnataka. Since inception in March 2021, River has raised a total $28 million in funds from marquee investors including Dubai based Al Futtaim group, Chris Saccas Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC. Notably, River is the sole Indian investment for Al Futtaim group, Toyota Ventures, Trucks VC, and Maniv Mobility.
