IEEMA inaugurates Distribuelec as a virtual event

February 16, 2021: The clarion call given by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for ‘AatmNirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ is an opportunity to increase our global footprint.  Against this backdrop Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) has organised its 4th edition of Distribuelec scheduled from February 16-20, 2021 virtually. The virtual exhibition was inaugurated by Shri R K Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. More than 800 delegates were present virtually during the Inauguration of Distribuelec 2021.

Simultaneously with Distribuelec, IEEMA is organising Buildelec exhibition and a technical conference Intelect to bring Power Distribution stakeholders – DISCOM, Consumer, Electrical Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) – on one platform to conduct business.

The Country has set ambitious long-term targets for its electricity sector, including 450 gigawatts (GW) of renewables by 2030, representing a total of 55% of planned capacity. To achieve such ambitious renewable targets and sustain economic growth goals, the crippled power distribution sector must be made profitable.

It is in this backdrop, Distribuelec 2021 planned for connecting all the dots in the World of electricity vis-à-vis Distribution utilities, EPC contractors, technical experts and OEMs. The theme is Intelligent Power distribution with safety, sustainability and Hi-Technology.

Addressing the audience at the inauguration Shri R K Singh said, “We have brought sea changes in the power sector. We were power deficit but now we are power surplus nation. The demand for electrical equipment will be all time high in times to come with the numerous reforms undertaken to strengthen and modernise the distribution sector with the investment of Rs 3.05 lakh crore in the next five years. We want products to be manufactured here for which we will provide land at a feasible rate for which we have a scheme where we will set up three manufacturing zones around the country. I invite electrical companies to set up their industries and manufacture components, which we are importing. This will give a boost to our AatmNirbhar Mission.”

Commenting on the same, Shri Anil Saboo President - IEEMA, said, “During this challenging Covid times, we all are extremely happy with the Power Minister's support to the electrical equipment industry. For the first time in history, Power has become the talking point in the budget along with Railways and Roads. The infusion of Rs 3.05 lakh crore with make discoms viable thus improving the overall efficiency. There is an increasing need for a digitised, automated and controlled power system for optimising power flows and reduce losses. Technology is the only enabler for enhancing sustainability and reliability of the power distribution system.”
