Covid-19 vaccination drive from January 16 priority to be given to health care and frontline workers.

January 11, 2021 – Pune-based Kool-ex Cold Chain Ltd is preparing to transport the Covid-19 vaccines from Serum Institute of India (SII) to other parts of the country. “We've been doing this for over 12 years. Our trucks can be temperature controlled from -25 to +25C. Every truck is tech-enabled. Various state governments have given security cover for trucks where they'll get police escort till they reach their destination. Preparations began a month ago, now we're ready. We've been asked to prepare for vaccine transportation anywhere in India. We have 300-350 vehicles and a backup of 500-600. As soon as we get orders, we can start loading vaccines from the consigner in 3-4 hours,” says Kunal Agarwal, Director Kool-Ex.
Covishield is co-developed by the University of Oxford and British-Swedish company AstraZeneca in collaboration with the SII. An SII source had said that certain processes are being finalised about the transportation of the vaccine. The Maharashtra government has already decided to provide police security to the trucks carrying the vaccine up to airports and to the borders of the state.
