Barbara Colombo elected President of UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre for 2020-2021

Barbara Colombo becomes the first woman to lead the UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre.

Sesto San Giovanni, October 2020 – Barbara Colombo is the new president of UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre, the Italian machine tools, robots and automation systems manufacturers' association, for the two-year period 2020-2021. The election took place recently during the Members’ Meeting of UCIMU, held in presence, at the edge of the city of Milan.

The first woman leading UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre, Barbara Colombo stated: “I am honoured and excited at this appointment. I hope that my nomination may inspire many other women to engage in a sector, such as that of mechanics, which is extremely stimulating”.

Managing director of FICEP Spa (Gazzada Schianno, Varese), a three-generation, family-owned company, leader in the field of machine tools for steel construction, sheet metal working and hot forging, Barbara Colombo has been engaged in the activities of the association for a long time.

In 2008, she was appointed as a member of the Executive Board of UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre from 2015 until today, she was vice president of the association.

In the two-year period 2007-2009, she was a member of the General Committee of UNIVA, Union of Industrialists of the province of Varese and, in the period 2017-2018, and a member of the National Executive Committee of FEDERMECCANICA.

Since 2019, she has been a member of the Italian delegation of CECIMO, European Association of Machine Tool Industries and, since June 2020, she has been the Treasurer of the Association.

After a Master’s Degree in Business Economics, with specialisation in Corporate Finance from the Luigi Bocconi University of Milan, she obtained a post-graduate Master Certificate in Corporate Finance from SDA Bocconi.
