JUMO has had a direct presence in the Indian market for almost 15 years now. How significant is this market?
JUMO has been in India since 2008 offering unique and application-based solutions to industrial sectors like Pharma, F&B, drinking water, renewable energy and railways to name a few. India is a strategic and one of the most exciting markets for the JUMO group. Economic reforms and various policy initiatives have made it one of the fastest-growing economies in the world today. The manufacturing sector has played a significant role in the growth. The overall manufacturing climate looking forward to rapid adoption of modern technology backed by cost-saving features and relevant Government/private initiatives are expected to create very good opportunities for the automation industry in the next few years. Our product ranges in Sensors and Automation like PLC-HMI, SCADA and field instrumentation, which is backed by German engineering, will have good scope in this encouraging scenario.
 
What are the types of sensors JUMO specialises in? Are these compatible with the various standards and protocols? What are the broad segments these cater to?
JUMO is a partner for sensor and automation solutions. We are a leading global supplier of components and systems specialising in measuring ranges for temperature, liquid analysis, pressure, level, flow, and humidity. We also focus on automation challenges such as recording and monitoring as well as control and automation. All the JUMO devices are in compliance with international standards and protocols referred globally for design of instrumentations, additionally special approvals are in place for specific industries. Though the devices are designed for a broad industry spectrum, pharma/water/renewable energy/railways/food & beverages, and chemicals are examples of segments they specifically cater to.
 
The market is crowded with many global sensor manufacturers. What is the USP that differentiates JUMO and its products?
JUMO treats all the customers as partners, which is the major difference against many global manufacturers. With growing automation, sensors today have millions of applications. What are the trends that are shaping sensor technology today?
Sensors have become one of the most crucial and widely used components in various applications. The increasing demand for performance and efficiency helps in the rising adoption of smart sensors. The increasing utilisation and penetration of Internet of Things (IoT), coupled with increasing automation in automobiles and smart wearable systems for health monitoring, is expected to augment the growth of the smart sensor.
 
Long-range low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technology is driving innovation for IIoT connectivity. LPWANs for IoT sensors allow low powered devices to stream packets of data wirelessly but with a wider area. The Covid-19 outbreak is speeding up the adoption of Industry 4.0, leading enterprises across industries into a more sophisticated state of the IoT technology using sensors that influence production, maintenance with modified service intervals.
 
JUMO has its own cloud platform and associated services. How do these help clients in their digital transformation journey?

The IoT platform for process visualisation, data acquisition, evaluation, and archiving enables worldwide access to measurement data via common web browsers. The JUMO Cloud is characterised by high security as well as valuable visualisation, alarm, and planning functions.
 
This system enables customers to have easy client management through individual dashboards via common browsers eliminating the need of installing special software, browser plug-ins or add-ons. Data is secured through end-to-end encryption (HTTPS, MQTTS/TLS), redundant infrastructure certified by ISO/IEC 27.001.Alarmsare configurable with on-call schedule, SMS, email, voice call and push messages. Most importantly JUMO variTRON automation systems can be used as a gateway to connect further devices and they are charged Flat rate or pay-per-use.
 
The company is known for its training programmes. Do you have any such training sessions for the Indian customers?

To support customers in keeping their expertise up to date and extracting maximum benefit out of JUMO products, we offer a comprehensive training program. JUMO Campus, which is a special division for carrying out training for Indian (International) customers, arranges training in form of Seminars, Webinars, eLearning courses and exclusive training. The modules can be tailor made of individual needs. 
 
What is the nature of the India operations – any manufacturing activity or just a marketing/servicing operation? Any plans to avail the benefits offered by the Indian government through various incentives and schemes?
JUMO India was established as the 23rd affiliate of a worldwide sales & service network to serve the customers in this area in 2008. Sales & Service remains a major activity for JUMO India. However recent developments and Make in India initiatives value additions are done to the products to achieve optimisation in quality and cost. 
 
What are the company's achievements in terms of breakthrough product launches?
JUMO started with temperature measurement technology, however today, the Fulda-based family business is the world market leader in the field of industrial temperature probes and high-tech innovative products in the field of measurement, control, and automation technology. From the very beginning, JUMO has always been in motion and has always been committed to innovation because a high degree of flexibility also requires a high degree of innovative strength, which is reflected in the fact that 8% of JUMO employees are involved in development. JUMO has maintained a tradition of launching multiple new state-of-the-art products every year, latest being JUMO Cloud and SMARTWARE SCADA.
