Case Study: Slurry Density Measurement for Alumina Plant

Dr Ravinder Goyal presents an interesting case study of application of Nucleonic Type Slurry Density Measurement.

Slurry Density Measurement is one of the most critical measurement parameters for Metals and Minerals, Mining, Washeries, Ash Handling and other process industries. And what makes it more complicated is that the most reliable solution that has proven the test of time is only Nucleonic Type Slurry Density Measurement. However, with Nucleonic-based measurement comes the problem of handling radioactive sources and various problems with regards to approvals with Atomic Regulation Boards, yearly renewals, requirements of RSO, half-yearly mandatory compliances and reporting, source disposals and health hazards.
The same was the concern of one of our customers who wanted to use a Nucleonic-based instrument for Bauxite Slurry Density Measurement. I personally recall giving a presentation to them about our Nucleonic Density Meter which uses Na-22 as the Radioactive Source and is exempted from any kind of regulations owing to the fact that the radioactivity is less than 1 MBq (~ 0.7MBq)/0.028mCi. Added to that is the benefit that the source is completely safe and does not pose the health hazards of the conventional radioactive sources. The customer was so elated that they immediately procured one unit to test the accuracy in line with their existing installation and once they were satisfied they went ahead with more than 20 Density Meters for their new plant owing to only one fact – Same Accuracy as Conventional but No Regulations and Completely Safe.
So, if your process involves Slurry Density Measurement, then I sincerely urge you to give our:
Na-22 based Nucleonic Slurry Density Meter an opportunity since there is:
• No requirement of approvals as the source is exempted
• No NOC
• No renewals
• No reporting
• No issue of source disposal
• No RSO
• No compliance, and
• Complete Safe from Health point of view.
I myself and my team would be extremely happy to help you with your application since we believe in only one thing – "Our solutions which can increase the efficiency of a process plant, contributes to our country's GDP growth and we become an indirect part of country's Economic Strength and that makes us all happy at EIP"
